Projects under study
Real Estate – Study and development visitwith French companies operating in the residential/office/logistics/hotel property sector and services operated with a view to participating in the development of major projects in Iceland (Contact Patrick Sigurdsson) :
- Keldur : Construction of a new 180,000 m2 district near the capital Reykjavik (requirements: master plan, urban studies, financing, construction, investments, etc.) ;
- Keflavik – Tripling of the size of the international airport, which is set to grow from 80,000 to 240,000 m2 and become a major platform and Atlantic hub: logistics, hotels, offices, coworking / co-living and scientific research.
This project concerns major builders, developers, operators, investors and, more generally, specialists in each of the areas mentioned. The aim is to find out about projects and needs, meet Icelandic operators and develop long-term collaboration. The target date is June 2025.
Trade mission to Iceland – In relation with MEDEF International linked to new energies/climate transition, MEDEF Int. has accepted the principle of a multi-sector trade mission to Iceland with a focus on hydrogen – energy – climate, for Arctic Circle 2025.

This action plan could be structured around the following axis (we are in the early stages of this programme and it should be considered as a project):
- France-Iceland B2B/B2G contact webinar in November or early December 2024;
- Hosting an Icelandic delegation (albeit a small one) at Hyvolution Paris in the last week of January 2025;
- Webinar to prepare the MEDEFI mission to Iceland around May-June or bilateral meeting at UNOC in Nice;
- Mission from 14 to 16 October 2025 : 1 Day Akureyri-Dysnes + 1 Day Reykjavik-Reykjanesbær + 1 Day Arctic Circle 2025 (with French plenary session and/or Business Forum breakout).
Return visit of the Sophia-Antipolis Foundation to Reykjavik with a view to signing a framework cooperation contract with the Icelandic economic world in collaboration with Business Iceland. (Contact Gudrun Bjarnadottir / Patrick Sigurdsson).
This visit confirms the mutual interest of Business Iceland (Islandsstofa) and the Sophia-Antipolis Foundation in developing collaboration in research, skills development, scale-up of digital companies and high-level training. This visit follows on from the visit to SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS by Mr Philippe MARIANI and a delegation of 20 people from BUSINESS ICELAND, the Icelandic First Lady Eliza REID and her Excellency the Icelandic Ambassador to France and Southern Europe Unnur ORRADOTTIE RAMETTE, the French-Icelandic CC Gudrun BJARNADOTTIR and Patrick SIGURDSSON, during the MIPIM 2024 in Cannes. The organisation of this project is currently being evaluated and is targeting 2025.
Conference in Reykjavik on digital infrastructures and the interest of digital investments (contact Berglind Guðmundsdóttir) and meeting with operators. Update on current developments and meeting with stakeholders. Target date October 2025.
